Wax and Sealent

One of the final steps or the final step in detailing my car from what I have learned thus far from your responses etc. is a good wax or a sealent. Can I put both on the car or one or the other...just purchased a new VW beetle 2007 and plan to keep it that way...I ready don't want to do something that may be redunant. The sealent will last longer and the good wax you may have to put on a little more often...Am I correct in all this...

You can use both a wax and a sealant. In such a case, you would apply the sealant and let it cure for 24 hours before topping it with a wax.
