Newbie with very basic sealant question

Hello Everyone!
I am fairly new to detailing and kind of fell into it lol Anyway, I have never used a sealant before. What is the benefit? Is it worth it? Do you put in on with an orbital or rotary? Thanks!

Sealant are supposed to last longer, and hold up better under heat.
Somewhat more of a brighter less "liquid" look, not as warm.
I eithre do it by hand or by orbital, depends on mood and vehicle. (if there is alot of plastic/rubber trim, i do it by hand)
