Help with PB product line up

Hey all,


This is my first post so bare with me please lol. I've been detailing for a cpl years, don't have a lot of experience with anything other than PB SSR 1 & 2 and Klasse twins when it comes to paint. Have been using a few more PB products the last cpl of months and it's quickly becoming my favorite line. Both of my vehicles are black, no metal flake in the paint just straight up black. I did clay bar both vehicles a cpl weeks ago but only had enough time to slap a coat of sealant on, the paint isn't heavily marred but there are swirls and minor imperfections that can be seen in any light. I'm looking for 3-4 month durability and to add some depth, wetness. Here's the product list I came up with, feel free to chime in if there are other PB products I could be using that would work better or better methods of applying them (polsiher speed, pad selection, drying/hazing time etc.)

Wash w/ PB Super Slick/Suds

SSR 2.5 or 2 w/ White pad for swirl removal? 3-4 for speed on PC 7424XP?

Do I need to step down to SSR1 w/ white pad for further polishing to bring out shine?

Black Hole Glaze w/ Black/Grey pad at low speed? Let it haze and remove?

EX or EX-P sealant? Which is better for black vehicles? Durability? Black/grey pad at low speed as well? or apply by hand? How long should I leave it on?

Nattys Blue Wax - Liquid or Paste form? Apply by hand or machine? Let it haze and remove?

I would go over it again with SSR1.

EX or EXP will depend on your preference. Do you like a more carnauba look or a "crisper" look?
Leave it on until it wipes off easily. Different climates/environments require different times. Make sure you apply thinly regardless of application type. I like using a machine as I seem to be able to apply more thinly and evenly this way. (By hand around the hard to reach areas.)
NB liquid or paste again depends on your preferences. Look at reviews given by other members to get an idea which may be right for you. Or you can just experiment with each combo and see which you like best.

Ok, awesome. Thanks for the info/tips BigLeegr. I like the depth and glow caranuba gives off but I also like the crisp/clear reflections from the pure sealants. If only there was a product somewhere that could give you both. I'm assuming the EX is easier to apply/remove than the ex-p due to its caranuba content?

EX-P is easy to remove so I wouldn't worry about that, just let it sit for about 30 min or until is passes the swipe test. I have even found spots I missed the next day (white car + white product + bad lighting = it was bound to happen somewhere on the car) and they came off without issue.

Good choices...that's the exact line-up I use on my vehicles. Well, except I use White Diamond on my zinc yellow GT Mustang, although I have used Black Hole once before on the yellow...didn't see much difference although my wife said it looked like a deeper yellow.

I've used EX in the past, but recently ordered EX-P and it looks to work just as well and I always use Natty's Blue. I've got the red, but I always have issues with getting it to remove easily. I guess I put it on too thick and have to rub to hard to remove it.

On black...those products will look fabulous. here are a couple shots of my previous black vehicle with those above steps...

Good choices...that's the exact line-up I use on my vehicles. Well, except I use White Diamond on my zinc yellow GT Mustang, although I have used Black Hole once before on the yellow...didn't see much difference although my wife said it looked like a deeper yellow.

Nice! Thanks for posting the pics! I love the depth and the clarity of the paint. I ordered a bunch of PB stuff from eshine a couple of days ago, I got a bottle of Natty's Blue liquid as well as Nattys Red paste just to have both.

Can I use a black or blue 4" pad to apply nattys red paste by hand? I'm assuming I gently rub the foam pad on top of the wax to get it on the pad? I ran my finger across it last night and a thin little layer came off, im assuming a thin layer is all need with this stuff. Smells awesome!

The blue one should work, one you get down in the jar a bit it could be interesting to get it out.
Lake Country has the 3" pads out in quantity now used with a 3" velcro pad holder might get you an easier route.

Myself, I cut the Red Hand Pad ( from the ultrafinish.com site ) in 4 or 6 sections and use this for applying Natty's.
- I gave up trying to get the wax out of the container to get wax paper around it, another option for application.

Yep, just figuring that out now haha. I do have a 3" purple applicator that came with a bottle of mequiars nxt 2.0 I bought a few years ago, think that would work? It seems soft enough, and it's more pliable than the lc blue 4" pad.

Update: Yeah ok scratch the purple applicator, no way im getting the left over crap out of it, don't wanna risk cross contamination. Off to Canadian Tire, try one of those little auto glym palm apps I guess. I hate getting snagged towards the end of a detail job.
