What is the lifetime of SSRs?

I have a bottle of SSR2.5 and SSR1. I 've had them for about 3 years. They have been stored under the same conditions, which is almost entirely indoors. I was detailing my car over the Thanksgiving weekend. I used the SSR2.5 without any issues and it worked great. However, when I tried to apply the SSR1, it seemed to just stick to my paint and not breakdown like the SSR2.5. I was using a DA polisher with a White LC pad for both products. Different pad for each product though.

For SSR2, Steve has said this:
It's hard to say as there are too many variable as to optimum storage...but it should be good for at least a few years ... don't judge its freshness after a few years by scent... the scents are water based and will breakdown after a while.. how long? I can't really say, but give it a good shake..a couple minutes, and look for consistency ... if it's smooth with the minor grit from the abrasives, then go ahead and use it..if it's lumpy or has not mixed well, then it's time to toss it...hope this helped

Typically he's said most of the PB stuff is good for a few years as long as it's shaken every few months. I'm not sure what could be the issue of the SSR 1, though. Did you clean the paint between SSR 2.5 and 1? Maybe there was a bit of residue left over that's causing the issue? :smt102

did both products look normal after shaking? ... typically for optimum results polishes should be used within 2 years ...yes they can last longer but they should be shaken as Bigleegr said and kept air tight :)

I did shake both up very well. However, the SSR1 seemed to be very thick compared to the SSR2.5. It probably does need to be replaced. When I first bought it, I didn't run into this problem.

I didn't clean the paint after the SSR2.5. I didn't think it was necessary since it broke down nicely. I just wiped it off with a clean MF towel. Any remaining haze came off easily.

Thanks for the help.
