Washing Microfibers

I just ordered some APC and I have some microfiber rejuvenator that a friend gave me and I'm curious to see what is the best way to wash my microfibers. Since I spent a lot of money on my towels, I don't want to mess them up. When I get my APC do I just use that in the washing machine or do I add a laundry detergent with that? If so, what is a good detergent to use? I know that I only wash microfibers with microfibers. Do I wash them on hot or cold? How do I try them. In the dryer or hang them up? If I dry them in the dryer, what is the best setting for drying? Any information that you have would be great. Thanks.

I wash mine in hot water. I think it breaks up the residue better.
You can dry them in a dryer, but some people have mentioned a risk of melting the fibers when using a gas dryer. Don't know how probable this is, but it is something to consider (MF is basically forms of plastic-Nylon/polyester). If you do use a dryer, I would say use low heat and pull them out before totally dry. You aren't supposed to use any dryer sheets with them, so if you dry them for too long, they get a strong static charge. If you hang them up to dry, they should dry fairly quickly anyway, but I find that they seem a bit softer when dried in a dryer. Could be all in my head, though.
I use APC as a pre-spray to get any polish/wax residue loosened, then I put them in with detergent. Some people seem to like Charlie's soap. Haven't tried it though. I think as long as the detergent doesn't have added softeners etc. it should be ok. "Basic" is better in this case, I think.

I do what Bigleegr does, but I addabout 2-3 ounces of APC to the wash water with the laundry detergent if there are a lot of towels with wax or polish on them..as he said it helps breakdown dirt faster. :)

Dried microfiber with normal heat

My wife recently dried some of my microfiber towels on "normal" heat setting on the dryer. These were microfibers I bought at Auto Zone so not high quality.

I know some say too much heat will melt the fibers. If so, what should I do with these towels? Will they scratch the paint now (if they melted) or is it still oK to use? Should I throw them away?

Thanks

How do they feel? You can do a test in an inconspicuous area to see. They should be fine though, if they didn't scratch before.
