I am new here and am getting a new vw beetle in a few days...I have read a lot about swirls in the forums and how to get it out etc...In the first place how does one get swirl on a car.. Can you prevent it from happening? I certainly want my new car to start out right with the best products etc. and do not want to get swirls..
thanks all

Hi Sid,

Good question ...swirls come from light refraction into very fine line or scratches into your finish. They come from many sources including driving in the rain, washing your car, drying your car, among others.
They can't be totally avoided, but there are way to minimize how fast and how many you get.
Good washing habits are your best way to help prevent many swirls. Using at least 2 buckets, quality wash mitts, quality lubricating soap, grit guards in both buckets, flooding the finish , using a lubricating QD when drying, using good waffle weaves or even blow drying the car can help too.
Regular polishing to remove swirls as they become apparent will also help.
There is no way other than putting your car in a bubble to totally prevent swirls, but good maintenence will help to keep them in check :)
