Pad Priming

When starting off with SSR 2.5, 2 or 1 - do I need to prime a fresh pad with the polish at all or just put a ring of polish on a dry pad and start polishing.

Using a PC.

I know - no misting with water or QD!

You will still need to put a little extra into the pad to "get it going." (try adding more frequently instead of a bunch at once) A dry pad will soak the polish in fairly quickly. Once the pad stops sucking up the polish, the polish spreads farther and you have a bit longer working time.
