First step recommendation needed for silver Mazda

I'm going to be working on the wife's daily driver (silver Mazda Tribute). The paint is actually in pretty good shape but I do want to proceed with a polishing step prior to my LSP (Natty's Blue)

So basically, I need a light polish recommendation. I do have a PC which I'll be using.

I was thinking of maybe either PB's Polish w/Carnauba or PB's SSR-1. Which one would be best???

Also, which pad on the PC for each? Polishing pad for both??

Thanks!

Both are "finishing" polishes, so you wouldn't really go past a polishing pad in either case. If you haven't aready bought either, I'd suggest getting SSR2.5 and either SSR1 or PwC. (PwC would be more versatile, in that it is an AIO, which you could use for "quickies" when time doesn't permit a multi-step.)

What's the difference between SSR 2 and SSR 2.5 if they're both medium abraisives???

2.5 is noticably stronger than 2, but not near as agressive as 3, so it isn't listed as a strong abrasive. Also, 2.5 can be broken down to a pretty nice finish without following up with a milder polish, once one is proficient enough with it. Harsh abrasives typically need something to follow up with to "clear" the paint.
