I finally used my PC and goodies yesterday. Since the clouds were moving in, I went with plan B. To do my wife's car instead of my truck since our garage space was limited.
After I washed and clayed her car. I used SSR 2.5 with an orange pad on speed 5. Wow, all the swirls were gone. I followed that with SSR 1 and a white pad on speed 5. After using those two products, the paint looked great ut I had a few scratches that I couldn't get out, but I'm sure once I use the machine a little more they will come out. I followed those up with a sealant and wax and the car looks great now.
I have a question though. When I was using the SSR 2.5 I noticed it was dusting towards the end. Is that because the pad was getting caked? With the SSR 1 I didn't have that problem. Is that because the SSR 2.5 is thicker? Any information would be great. Also to clean my pads, I sprayed APC on them and hosed them off and layed them out to dry. Should I place them in a bucket with APC and let them soak instead?
Since it was my first time using a polisher, I would have to give myself a B-. I have a long way to go but I am happy with the results. It took about 6 hours to complete my wife's Ford Taurus and that includes my beer break.
