I would say "yes" it will affect the previous layers. However, I *think* I remember Steve saying that if you applied it by hand with a light touch (Not rubbed in hard or with a machine) you might not remove much of the other layers.
Thanks, ive just washed the car, when it dried i used spray and wipe then waxed, turned out nice, the spray and wipe helped get rid of some of the water marks. Just need something to give it an extra shine before i apply wax ontop of the other layers.
Probably. S+G has gloss enhancers, so it'll give some extra "pop" after the wash. I would say this would be more to your liking than S+W after a wash, since you don't really need the cleaning power of S+W then. I'm not sure you'd end up seeing much difference if you wax right after it, though. You'd likely just see the results from the wax, so I guess using either S+G or S+W to get rid of water spots before waxing would be ok.
One often overlooked product is QW+. It has some cleaning properties (oxidation removal type cleaning rather than removal of dirt type) but is good for boosting the looks and the protection. It's quick, can be done after a wash (car can still be a bit wet) and you don't have to wait for it to haze before removing it. It can also remove fresh water spots. Only big problem I have with it is getting the spray on areas I didn't want it to be. You end up with with white dots on trim, glass etc. that you need to remove. If you spray it onto your cloth and apply it, you don't need to be as concerned about it and all is well.
