Pro Polish residue What am I doing wrong?

First off I have recently switched to Poorboys Products and I love them. I am fairly new to detailing with a PC buffer. I have done a few cars so far (with a friends help [Go-N-Def on these forums] on the first ones). So I had first hand knowledge on how to use the tools properly from the start.

The next two cars I have done were a 1997 Jeep Wrangler and a 1994 Toyota celica with some neglected paint. Swirls and oxidation etc. On both I have used the following:

SSR 2.5 with an orange CCS pad then
Pro polish on a CCS White pad
Final layer of sealant over the whole thing with CCS Black pad.

I have had a few problems with the Pro polish. Most of the panel comes out fine, but there are a few areas where the polish seems to be caked on and will not come off regardless how hard I push with the buffer, in fact pushing very hard will make the problem worse. The residue will come off by hand, but I thne have to "polish" out the troublesome areas by hand, which is annoying.

For both the SSR and the Pro polish I spread it on 1-2 and use 5-6 to work it in. I work it in for at least 5 minutes and have seen the videos describing the polish breakdown, so I feel that I'm working the product in long enough (maybe overworking it?). I am wondering if there is contamination on the pads or if there is some problems with my technique.

As for product amount I either use an X pattern or 1 full circle around the outer edge of the pad. I also get some dusting after a while, but I can deal with that.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this problem from time to time, what i was doing was using to much product on the pad.
with out watching you work i could only guess, but it seems like your pad just pukes the over loaded product that has gone stale.

I have abused the pro polish with extreme heat and high speed rotary and the product would not fail. it just got thick and clogged the pores in the pad, soon after the pad just puked the product off it.... it would not move even with the rotary but would wipe off with some effort by hand.

what i would try is start with a pristine clean pad, use a lesser amount of product and watch the finish being careful not to dry buff. if you have been around your machine long enough you will start to feel the product loading up on the pad, at this time you could Spritz it with a quick detailer to thin the clogged pad. i have tried using water but it did not work as well as a QD.

good luck
and please keep us posted.

Another afterthought is that I was using the product in the sun (I don't have a garage), and possibly was working the product in too long. When I was finished I had almost no product left on the car (except for the few areas where it caked together). The cars panels were fairly warm to the touch (some were even a bit hot) could this have been an issue as well?

I have throughly washed the pads last night and was planning to work on my car today (it's raining now) I will try a cooler time of day and working things in a bit less. Hopefully that will take care of the residue problem. I look forward to any other suggestions.

Thanks for the help.

Usually what you describe is just a bit too much product. As Beercan said, Pro Polish can take a beating and not dry out. In fact the longer you work it the easier it comes off.

Well I finished my car yesterday wthout any problems. I used SSR1 not 2.5 to start so that may have something to do with it.
So it's 1 of 2 things going wrong:

1) Not enough time spent spreading the product out ( I went over each panel 3x on speed 2-3 before starting and it worked just fine)

2) Contaminated pads (I washed them thoroughly in a machine prior to starting this job

Anyway thanks for the input.
